"It’s been great meeting and working with different agencies and designers – there’s so much to learn about the industry you’re not aware of at university."
Having grown up in Bath and studied in Falmouth, I was keen to get to the big city and see what London living was all about, especially with it’s amazing design scene. Although I loved living amongst the seagulls, surfers and OAPs in Cornwall, it was time to throw myself in the deep end. Studying in Falmouth was great, they were really brilliant at connecting you with agencies all over, with trips to London studios included. I think that is what really motivated me to move to London and seek out agencies like The Allotment to have me as a placement.
Being in London has opened my eyes so much to a new and vibrant city culture. In the short time I’ve been here so far, I’ve found great inspiration in the endless number of exhibitions, galleries and museums just a stones throw away. It’s been great meeting and working with different agencies and designers- there’s so much to learn about the industry you’re not aware of at university.
I'm still working out what I really want to do as a designer, it’s been incredibly useful to really get involved with the current projects running at The Allotment and learn more about the agency, the industry and myself as a designer. They have been so welcoming and inclusive, really making me feel like a valued member of the team and making the experience so enjoyable (especially with the added bonus of a chocolate cake on my birthday)!
